Privacy Policy

The Localist ("Localist," "we," "us"), operated by Localist, LLC, connects local Creators, Hosts, and customers in Charlotte, NC. This policy explains what information we collect through localistclt.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, and a small amount generated by using the Site:

• Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account.
• Profile information: for Creators and Hosts, business details, bio, location, social links, and (optionally) a phone number provided during application.
• Order information: items purchased, pickup location and notes, and messages exchanged with Creators, Hosts, or our support team.
• Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe (see Section 3) — we never see or store your full card number.
• Usage information: your shopping cart is stored in your browser's local storage so it's there when you come back.
• Analytics and advertising information: we use tools like Google Analytics and social media advertising platforms (such as Meta/Facebook), which use cookies and similar technologies to collect information like your device and browser type, approximate location, and the pages you visit — see Section 5.

2. How We Use Information

• To create and maintain your account, and to process and fulfill orders.
• To send transactional emails you'd expect from an order — confirmations, pickup-ready notices, new-message alerts, and application updates.
• To send marketing updates if you've opted in (you can unsubscribe from any marketing email at any time).
• To review and approve Creator, Host, and product applications, and to keep the marketplace safe and working as intended.
• To keep the marketplace safe: authorized Localist administrators may review messages sent through the Site, for example to look into a reported problem or enforce our Terms of Use and Policies. Please don't share payment card numbers or passwords in messages.
• To respond when you contact us for support.
• To understand how the Site is used, and to show and measure the performance of our own advertising.

3. Who We Share Information With

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the Site work, each of whom is only given what they need to do their job:

• Supabase — hosts our database, user accounts/login, and uploaded photos.
• Stripe — processes all payments and payouts to Creators. Stripe has its own privacy policy covering the payment details it collects directly from you.
• Brevo — sends the transactional and marketing emails described above.
• Google Analytics — helps us understand how visitors use the Site. Google's own privacy policy covers how it handles this data.
• Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and other social media advertising platforms — used to show ads off-Site and measure how well they work. We may share limited information (such as a hashed/scrambled version of your email address, or that you visited a certain page) with these platforms for that purpose.
• Other Creators, Hosts, or customers you're actually transacting or messaging with, so they can fulfill or discuss your order — we never share your contact information with anyone you haven't interacted with.

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Localist, our users, or the public.

4. Creator and Host Responsibilities

Fulfilling an order means a Creator or Host will see certain information about a customer — for example, their name, order details, pickup notes, or messages. Creators and Hosts agree to use that information only to fulfill that order or pickup, and to handle it responsibly and in line with our Terms of Use & Localist Policies. Using a customer's information for a Creator or Host's own marketing, sharing it with anyone else, or contacting a customer outside the Site for anything unrelated to their order is not allowed.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies (like pixels) for analytics and advertising, through Google Analytics and social media advertising platforms like Meta. These help us see how the Site is used and show relevant ads on other sites and apps.

You have choices about this:

• Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
• You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.
• You can opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance, or directly through a platform's own settings (for example, Meta's Ad Preferences).
• You can email info@localistclt.com to ask us not to use your information for advertising purposes.

6. Your Choices

• You can review and update most of your account/profile information any time you're signed in.
• You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing email.
• You can opt out of analytics/advertising cookies — see Section 5.
• To request a copy of your data, or to delete your account, email us at info@localistclt.com.

7. Data Retention

We keep account and order information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with our legal and tax obligations (for example, records of completed sales).

8. Children's Privacy

The Localist is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Site changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
